The Best of West End Restaurants
Restaurants are listed in geographical order starting farthest west. My favorites are listed in red.
$ – around $10-15 per main dish | $$ – around $15-$20 per main dish | $$$ – around $20 -$25 per main dish | $$$$- $30 -$40 per main dish| $$$$$ Over $40 per main dish
West Bay Point / Lighthouse Estates
Kismet $-$$ Located in The Meridian, this cute beachfront restaurant has delicious food and tasty cocktails. Located on Lighthouse Beach, their menu is varied and delicious. They have pasta, Asian-influenced dishes, burgers, steaks, seafood, Island style, vegetarian options, and more. The key lime pie is the best on the island. It is a great place to grab a snack during your beach day, have a sunset cocktail, or have a delicious but casual dinner. I highly recommend it.
West Bay Beach
Kimpton $$$-$$$$$ The newest addition to West Bay, Kimpton Resort has 3 different restaurants. One is a Mediterranean, one is a beachfront restaurant, and the other is a wine bar. I’ve only had a few dishes and they were average but overpriced in my opinion.
Infinity Bay $-$$$ Infinity Bay has a nice pool bar though you cannot use the pool unless you pay $45 for a day pass. The food is ok but nothing special. Burgers, wraps, pizzas, and sometimes sushi.
Paradise Beach Club; $$ There is a BBQ joint that has ok food but it is nothing to write home about. They also have a pizza restaurant that is pretty good, when its open.
Banana Rama $-$$ Beachfront restaurant located inside Banana Rama hotel. They have daily food and drink happy hours. They have typical bar food (burgers, fries, etc) plus some island specials and pizza. The pizza is ok.
Mayan Princess / San Simon Beach Club $$-$$$ This hotel has a lovely lounge on the beach with really good food and cocktails. The elevated fare is a great escape from the typical burger and fries found nearby. The dinner menu is very good as well. On Sundays from 10 am until 2 pm, they do a bottomless mimosa brunch for $40. You pick one appetizer and one entrée and then enjoy unlimited mimosas and bloody Marys. You can even sit on the beach loungers for your brunch.
Henry Moran / Gula – $-$$ Located right on the beach in a converted house, Gula is an air conditioned Italian restaurant with great views. They have an extensive wine list which is hard to find on the island and the prices for wine are very reasonable. They also host a wine tasting even once a month for $20 / person for 4 wines with a small food pairing. It is a great bargain for money and always a fun night. You can look them up on Facebook to see when the dates are. The pizzas are very good as are the lasagna, gnocchi, and cauliflower hummus.
Argentinean Grill $$$ Already established as an institution in West End, this West Bay offshoot is quite good and is right on the beach. You can use their beach chairs or sit at a table. They offer grilled steak and seafood dishes as well as pastas and salads. The twiced baked potato is my favorite side. Try their home made chimichurri sauce on your steak; it is awesome!
Beacher’s $-$$ A locally owned restaurant right on the beach that serves typical bar fare plus some Island favorites. They usually have live music on Saturday nights which is always a good time. The food is consistent and they have chairs you can use for free outside of cruise ship hours.
West Bay Main Road Behind the Beach
Fresco – Not a restaurant, this veggie stand has a fantastic selection of produce including organic options. If you’re looking to buy fruits or vegetables, this is your place.
La Placita $– This cute shopping village located just behind Banana Rama has a variety of cute stores and restaurants. There is a fabulous pizza restaurant, a delicious aco place, a Honduran restaurant, and a few others. The quality is great and the prices are pretty reasonable.
Kristi’s – $$-$$$ Owned by a couple from Texas who know their way around a kitchen, this restaurant is located inside West Bay Lodge. The food is a southern US / Honduras fusion with lots of seafood options. They have live music several times a week, which gives this place a cool, laid-back vibe.
Java Vine- $-$$ A daytime wine bar and bistro located in West Bay Mall, they serve tasty food, coffees, teas, etc. They will stay open later into the evening if demand calls for it. They also have gluten-free menu options and advertise being a safe dining option for people with celiac and other food allergies.
East of West Bay Beach
Las Rocas – $-$$ located on the iron shore on the east side of West Bay Beach (towards West End and not towards the point of the island), Las Rocas is an Italian restaurant that is an easy 3-minute walk from the beach down a wooden boardwalk. The restaurant and hotel is one of the last charming old-school beach hotels on Roatan. It has a great happy hour every day and a wooden deck with the best sunset views on the beach. Their food is also very good and reasonably priced. The sandwiches are delicious and massive. The pastas are also very good. The ceviche is the best on the beach and if they have key lime pie, definitely order it.
Sea Salt $$$$ – Located a few minutes walk past the the bridge on the beach walk to West End, this high end restaurant has a rotating menu. The food is very good but I do think that it is quite over priced. The restaurant sits right on a quiet stretch of beach and the vibe of the place is Bali meets Honduras. Reservations are recommended. You can find them on Facebook.
Xbalanque $$$-$$$$ Located a few minutes walk past Sea Salt is another high-end beachfront restaurant. This boutique hotel and restaurant has a good menu and cocktails. During season, they have sushi night as well as other themed nights. Reservations are recommended. You can find them on Facebook.
Blue Roatan Beach Club and Azul Restaurant – $$$-$$$$$ This delux condo development has two restaurants. Azul Restaurant is located about a 6 minute walk uphill from the beach. It has steaks, burgers, and some seafood options. Home of the $350 Tomahawk, the prices here are definitely not affordable. Non-caveman-sized steaks are still $50 and burgers are $25. But the food is very good. The Beach Club just opened and is located right on the beach. They have a slightly more reasonably priced menu with lighter fare.
Ibagari – $$$-$$$$ Located in a stunningly beautiful boutique hotel, this restaurant is probably the most picturesque on Roatan. It is right on the beach in this amazing setting that brings the beach and jungle together. The food menu is varied and the quality is very good. I much prefer their appetizers to mains. We’ll usually order 3 appetizers and split it between two people instead of getting mains. That seems to be how most people who live here do it as well. Their cocktails are very good. Is the food the best you’ve ever had? No. I think Oasis Restaurant outside of West End is better. But the setting is so lovely that it doesn’t matter. It is a must for special occasions. At sunset, they offer all customers a free champagne toast. Reservations are recommended. You can find them on Facebook.
